I,m sorry for your loss. Aunt Bettie was the definition of a lady, and a great mother and wife. She welcomed me into her home when my father couldn't care for me, I never felt different or unloved, to the contrary, she gave me the love and affection that I still cherish about her after all these years. We spoke often and I,m glad I was able to tell her how much she meant to me and to those that knew her. Now in the loving arms of Christ I wish her memory will live in all of us. George |

Bettie was my best friend's mom as I grew up and therefore had a big impact on my life. It seemed that there was hardly a day went by that I didn't hear her say "I'm going to bang your heads together" in connection with something that Hank & I had done. That may not sound like a fond memory, but it was. If you knew her, you would understand. The years have seperated us, as it has a way of doing. But she will always live in my heart, and in my mind, and in a lot of the things I do, or don't do. I will miss her very much. |

I was in shock because we had just been to the nursing home to see Jerry and take him a Christmas gift and he had just finished his therapy. We walked down to the lounge to visit a while and he spoke like he was feeling somewhat better and wanted to get back home. I told him we hoped so and we could celebrate his upcoming birthday. Jerry was a very thoughtful person and he was so kind to me and my family. I want to do something for Jerry for his friendship,so I'm going to purchase a book at the Wood County Library on antiquing and donate it in his name and honor. He may be gone but he wll never be fogotten. We'll miss ya! Tawnda & Howard |

Dear Sandra,
I met Jerry through my sister, Linda, several years ago, not long after they met and had quickly become close friends and kindrid spirits through the many mutual things they had in common, like their love of scavenging to sell high quality items on eBay, their love of fine art and exquisite pottery, some similar life experiences they shared, and so much more.
I remember what a generous and thoughtful person Jerry was to me and my family, how he happily gave me a tour of his beautiful home with tons of gorgeous Victorian paintings and numerous other fine art pieces that were perfectly displayed everywhere, and how he had such a beautiful jovial laugh! I thank God for Jerry being in my sister's life and will always remember him as a very sweet and caring man with an enormous heart. I also have warm memories of how much he loved his mother and doted on her, often shopping and laughing together, and the great bond that they had because they loved each other so much, just as he loved my sister and cared for her deeply, too.
Jerry was a great guy and I am so sorry for your loss! My thoughts and prayers are with you!
Love,
Melanie |

Dear Sandra,
My husband and I met Jerry years ago when our daughter introduced us to him. Jerry was so helpful in showing Linda what to look for in antiques and collectibles and how to sell items on eBay. Linda then passed this process on to me. So Jerry actually taught us both--a hobby that I enjoyed for years, even when it involved sitting out in a yard all day, rain or shine, waiting to make my bid. Linda is still using her knowledge and skills as she has continued her antique and collectible business through the years. I will always think of Jerry as a generous person, who was not only willing to share his expertise, but who also shared a few special gifts with Lee and me from his collection. We just want you to know that we are glad for Jerry's life, and we wish you peace and strength during these diffcult days. With love and prayers,
Faye and Lee |

You were his only sibling, and he loved you.

Matt, Randy and Cassie, We read about Dave dying on the internet version of the News/Sentinel. Our love goes out to both of you. He had a long full life. Dave was our neighbor ever since we moved to Parkersburg in 1975. I'll miss hearing him go on about Mercedes automobiles. We had some long discussions about cars. You probably didn't know it, but a lot of the work I did in Butacite was made easier by the work he had done before he left DuPont. |

Dear Mary Lou, and family of Don Mercer, I am so very sorry to hear of Don's passing. He was such a wonderful, silly, and thoughtful person. My family, Mother, Dad, and sister, Diane, remember lots of good times with Don and you, Mary Lou. Don had a deep faith in God, and he and I spoke often when we saw each other or on the phone of all the troubles in the world. He was always so caring and gave great advice. The Ohio River, the boat, the following barges and water skiing, will always be wonderful childhood memories. Your gracious home, and meals together were such fun. We all loved Don. As we all love you, and wish we could be there with you. My love and prayers are with you. Carol |

Our sympathy goes out to Polly's family. She was a rose blooming in earth's garden and now she is blooming in God's Heavenly one.
We only got to know her just recently and mother and she were almost inseparable. They were good for each other.
Polly insisted that she was taller than mother but that was something we loved about her - she found humor in everyday circumstances even though the 2 of them were about the same size. That is what we remember about our friend who added some happiness to mother's life and we love her and THANK HER for our friendship. |

She was always a bright light and an inspiration and I will continue to miss her cards and notes for a very long time. |

What a true friend and Christian to take someone into your home... I finally had to leave Canton and come to Parkersburg to help out and save your
Dad's sanity! He was a great Man !
and I thought an awful lot of him.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of
you. I'm sorry I'm not closer that I could come to the services.

I just wanted to send my condolences to Mary Ann and Caroline for the loss of your Father. I worked as a secretary in the Purchasing Department at American Cyanamid for about six years. I was also acquainted with your Mother. He was such a nice person to work with and still was in touch with him some afterwards. A few years back my husband and I saw him at the new downtown post office and talked with him a bit. His sight was bad but after I told him who we were, he remembered us very well and even remembered my husband worked at UPS and was retired from there. Although I never had the opportunity to meet you girls, he was always so proud of you both and spoke very highly of you! He was such a wonderful person, and I know you're going to miss him very much! Our sympathy to you and your families in such a difficult loss. David and Peggy Roberts |

| Condolence: |
Dear Family of Aunt Kate,
Aunt Kate was like a grandmother and aunt to us from the first time we met her. We moved in next door to her in Vienna when Ken was not quite two years old. We had no other local family and she extended such kindness and opened up her heart and home as only she could. Ken and Aunt Kate's birthdays were only a week apart so we always celebrated with her. What a blessing to see her live with a childlike joy - no matter the number of birthdays!
We cherish our memories of her and the time and tales she shared. We are so grateful to God and count it as a gift that she graced our lives with her spunk and spirit. May the Lord now welcome her home as she lovingly welcomed us into her family.
We pray that God blesses, sustains and comforts all of you in the days ahead. |

We are sorry to hear of your loss. Her Uncle Skip would have gotten in his truck and driven out if he could. He loved his sister Gladys and her family so much. I'm sure there was a crowd to welcome Petie into glory. They will be there for the est of us someday.
I wish we had kept in touch. Sue does a much better job. I have fond memories of the farm and seeing Petie as I was growing up. I know she was loved. No one can ask for more than that.
Our prayers are with you as you remember her impact on your life and grieve her passing. Love, Marty |

Hello All of You Dear ones in WVa,
While reading about Petie, I was suddenly transported in thought to a time when she & Aunt Gladys came to CA to visit us (The CA Hickmans). JoAnn, you were just a baby & I was so thrilled to hold you, especially in the car (heavens, I don't know how any of us survived!). Oh my you were so beautiful, really, truly and Jamie too. I remember, your mom wrote to your dad every day. I think he was in the service then. Her eyes lit up when she spoke about him. I loved your mom even though we didn't keep in touch, I have the fondest memories of her and you and of course your grandma, my Aunt Gladys. They were the best--so warm, inviting, & loving. I'm so glad you got together with my sister Sue & neice Sarah last Spring. Most of all, I'm glad we can look forward to being reunited in heaven one day because we all believe! Now, that's gonna be the best Hickman Reunion ever!!!
I pray your faith will comfort you at this sad time as you recall the stories, events, and wonderful memories you have of her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Lots of love from your cousin in Hollister, CA |

I wanted to reach out to your family in this time of my Aunt Glenna. I am her younger brother Jack's youngest son. I unfortunately was too young to have many memories of Aunt Glenna. The ones that I know of are second hand through my siblings. I do know that she was there a great deal for us in our younger years and for that I will always hold gratitude in my heart. As a believer, I know that one day I will get to express my thanks to her personally. I pray for your comfort in this time. Bill Roberts |

Wanted to express my loving memories of Aunt Glenna.
She was always a joy in our lives when we were young, and as I got older and grew up. I remember a lot of good times at her house, ours, Harry's and others. Barbara taking me to the pool and park across the street. Picnics in the park with our families, Christmas time. I remember her coming to our house every year around Christmas and we would tell her all these toys we wanted. Every year we would always get underwear and t-shirts instead. As I grew older I understood she was helping us a lot more then toys ever would. Wanted to let you know I am praying for your peace, and I know she was saved, so I rejoice at that.
Praise His name.
Love to all. |
