Almost
all of the funeral homes in the Parkersburg, Vienna, and Belpre area are
now owned by large corporate chains whose concerns are corporate policies
and returning profits to their stockholders. Vaughan Funeral Home is owned
by local residents, Sam Church, Mark E. Hickman and Alan Parks. In
fact, the Vaughan Funeral Home is the only locally owned funeral home
where each of the licensed directors/owners have more than twenty-five
years experience in funeral service. Directors Mark E. Hickman and Alan
Parks, both, feel that families recognize the importance of experience
and value that experience when selecting a funeral home. Sam
Church
was raised in Belpre and now lives in Vienna. He is a cum laude graduate
of Ohio State University with a background in accounting and business
management. He is able to provide advice and assistance to families who
need help with advance planning, estate planning or with the many decisions
involved in probate and closing estates, another of the many aftercare
services available to families served by Vaughan Funeral Home. Alan
Parks
is a Ritchie County native, but has lived in the Parkersburg area for
more that twenty-five years. He graduated cum laude from West Virginia
University and summa cum laude from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary
Science where he received the Nunnamaker Award, the highest award bestowed
upon a graduate. He received numerous awards for outstanding skills in
practical embalming and restorative art. As a licensed funeral director,
he began serving families in the Parkersburg area in 1975. Email:alan@vaughanfh.com Mark E. Hickman is a life-long resident of the Parkersburg area.
